Postgraduate Primary/Secondary Teacher Training

If you already hold an undergradaute degrere and are applying to one of our postgraduate courses, applications are made through the Department for Education (DfE) Apply for Teacher Training Service.

Applications open every October for courses starting the following September. Applications close in July, however we recommend applying early as popular subjects fill up quickly.

1. Check Your Eligibility
Entry requirements vary depending on the pathway you choose. Please visit your specific course page from our menu to verify the exact entry criteria before you begin.

2. Find Your Course Code
Scroll up to our course table on this page and note down the specific 4-digit Course Code for your chosen subject, alongside our main Provider Code: C59.

3. Prepare Your Details
Before starting your application online, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Details of your undergraduate degree.
  • Your GCSE certificates (Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths; plus Science if you are applying for Primary).
  • A personal statement explaining your motivation for teaching.
  • Contact details for two referees (such as an academic tutor or a current employer).

4. Submit via DfE Apply
Click the button below to create an account on the government's official DfE Apply for Teacher Training platform. When prompted, enter our Provider Code and your specific Course Code to link your application directly to our admissions team.

5. Interview Selection
Once we receive and review your completed application from the DfE, shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email with an invitation to a formal interview day.

BA (Hons) Primary and Early Years Education with QTS

Applications for all degree courses need to be made via UCAS.

UCAS applications generally open around September for courses that start the following year. Please check the UCAS website for more information.

2. Note the Application Codes
To apply for this course, you will need to input the following codes on your application form:
  • UCAS Provider Code: T89
  • UCAS Course Code: UE18


3. Prepare Your Details
Before launching your online application, ensure you have gathered the following:

  • Your complete education history, including your current or pending qualifications (A-Levels, BTECs, or equivalents).
  • A well-crafted UCAS personal statement highlighting your passion for teaching, relevant work experience, and suitability for an undergraduate degree with QTS.
  • A reference from a teacher, tutor, or professional employer who can vouch for your academic and practical potential.

4. Submit via UCAS
Click the button below to log into the official UCAS Hub platform. When completing your choices, enter our Provider Code and Course Code to send your application directly to our undergraduate admissions team.

5. Track Your Progress
Once submitted, you can use UCAS Hub to track the status of your application, view invitations to formal interviews, and respond to any offers we make.

 


 Assessment Only (AO)

This route is only for highly experienced, unqualified school teachers who are already working in a school and meeting the Teachers' Standards, without needing further training.
